Exhibition Of Concrete Aesthetics and Bentu’sProducts

In the 1980s, when the young Israel immigration Ron Arad designedthe record player made of waste concrete blocks, taking advantage of wastes hasbecome a common practice among London designers. After thirty years, in China, waste rubble was given the different meaning, which is the condition andexistence that we need to face and think about. To BENTU, waste concrete issentimental and able to move someone itself. As aproduct designing brand based on space design, BENTU reviewed the conventionalmaterials used in the concrete construction field. It seems to BENTU that aproduct should first meet the basic functions, which are the vital features ofitself as well.

Concrete, a material with high strength and durability, developingand innovating all the time, however it reveals its highly uncertainty whenused in the small items. Besides the expressive form, it is also difficult tostandardize the design language of concrete and produce them in batches as anyother materials. On some level, what BENTU is doing are not only the ProductDesign but more like trying to achieve the Industry Design.

The Rebuilt Exhibition presents the creative voice of this designorganization from local China comprehensively. After three years time from 2010to 2014 spent in the research and development of the combination ofconstructive wastes and concrete materials in South China, and, the explorationof the forms of free geometry and the expressive forms of materials, BENTUcreated the possibility for us to retain the beauty in more occasions.
